G is for Grocery Store

#1 learned the letter G this week at preschool. We did a few supplemental activities here at home!

No Time for Flashcards had this great idea for a grocery store. I set up the store, #1 and Dad made some green money, and he used #2's shopping cart to come shopping. Not only did we talk about the letter G, we did shapes ("Find a rectangle"), colors ("Find something red"), and counting ("That will be $5"). He loved it and wanted to play again and again! He did a good job stocking the shelves (our good friend Matt would be proud!), but wasn't very good at bagging. I had to use the G word "gentle!" a few times.
We don't have a garden right now, but we do have flowers that we can watch grow. And under the snow, #1 found some grass. Because it's so cold, we had to wear gloves outside! For the rest of the day, we will play games like "red light, green light" and race at the word "Go!" We will eat Goldfish crackers for a snack. We will color pictures of a giraffe and a grasshopper. #1 will play his guitar. We will watch the "Great Gorilla Rescue" with Go Diego, Go. We will write cards to #1's grandparents. And we will end our day by reading Goodnight Moon. What a great day with the letter G!
